Insecurity:Suspected Ammunition Courier Arrested in Zamfara State

In a coordinated security operation, a 29-year-old suspect, Zayyanu Abdullahi, was arrested on October 13, 2024, along the Anka-Bagega road in Zamfara State, allegedly transporting ammunition. The operation was carried out by troops in partnership with the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (ZSCPG), following a tip from local residents about suspicious activities in the area.

Security sources revealed that Abdullahi, a resident of Shinkafi Local Government Area, was stopped at a checkpoint set up by the security team. Upon inspection, authorities discovered 35 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition hidden inside a wrapper.

Initial investigations suggest that Abdullahi was on his way to deliver the ammunition to a person identified as Wadata in Bagega town. The suspect is currently in custody, while security forces intensify efforts to locate Wadata and others possibly linked to the case.

This arrest highlights the ongoing commitment of security forces in Zamfara State to combat the spread of illegal arms, a key factor in the region’s persistent security challenges.
