Rising tensions in Rivers State took a violent turn today as supporters of former Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike clashed with those backing the current Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Earlier in the day, Pro-Wike supporters reportedly blocked the Council Chairman aligned with Governor Fubara from gaining entry into the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Secretariat.
In a related development, youths in the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area also obstructed Council Chairmen loyal to Governor Fubara from accessing the Secretariat.
Adding to the growing unrest, a fire broke out and gun shots at the Ikwerre Local Government Secretariat, further intensifying the already volatile situation in the state.
