POS Operator Falls Victim to Kidnappers’ Ransom Scam

A recent incident has led the Delta State Police Command to urge Point of Sale (POS) operators and the general public to exercise extreme caution when handling large transactions for strangers. In a troubling case, a POS operator unknowingly facilitated the transfer of a ₦4 million ransom payment for a kidnapper, receiving only ₦40,000 as transaction fees in return.

The Delta State Police Command, represented by its Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, issued this warning to help prevent future occurrences. The police emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting any suspicious activity, as criminals are increasingly exploiting POS services for illegal purposes.
