Fans React as Wizkid Reignites Feud with Davido…

Award-winning singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has once again taken a jab at his colleague, Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, better known as Davido, calling the artist “talentless.” Wizkid’s comment came after a cryptic announcement about Davido’s upcoming single featuring YG Marley.

In what seemed like a direct insult, Wizkid took to his X (formerly Twitter) page, writing, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” followed by, “Una don tire! Make una go rest small! 🦅.”

Upset by Wizkid’s apparent jab, a fan accused him of seeking attention with his post. The fan, identified as Andrew Mcknight, tweeted from @CULTURALVOICE, saying, “So if you don’t beef with @davido, your song won’t sell?”

Wizkid responded bluntly, stating, “I don’t beef wack niggas.”

“I don’t beef wack niggas! We all know he’s wack! No talent! 🦅,” Wizkid wrote in a scathing post. However, Davido has yet to respond to Wizkid’s remarks.

The feud between the two Afrobeats stars dates back to 2014, with both engaging in multiple social media face-offs. In May 2024, the rivalry intensified when Wizkid took shots at both Davido and producer/singer Don Jazzy. He referred to the Mavin Records boss as an “influencer” and shared a video of Davido on his knees, pleading and crying, after a fan requested that Wizkid release new music.

In response, Davido hit back, describing Wizkid’s career as “dead.” Their tensions escalated again in January 2024 when, after Davido’s feature on Kizz Daniel’s ‘Twe Twe’, Davido tweeted, “We no dey do it will grow on you here,” a comment many fans believed was aimed at Wizkid.

In December 2023, Davido and Wizkid were seen partying together at the ‘Even In The Day’ event in Lagos. Following the event, Davido announced that Wizkid would be releasing a new project, the ‘S2’ EP, after its release. Earlier in June 2023, during an interview on Drinking Champs, Davido attributed much of their long-standing feud to fan bases, suggesting that fans were fueling the tension between them.

In March 2023, Wizkid showed solidarity by posting Davido’s fourth album Timeless, hinting that their relationship was improving. In November 2022, after the tragic loss of Davido’s son Ifeanyi, Wizkid delayed the release of his album More Love, Less Ego, a gesture widely seen as a sign of reconciliation.

In January 2023, Wizkid took things further by announcing a joint tour with Davido. He wrote on Instagram, “After my ‘MLLE (More Love, Less Ego)’ tour!! Davido and I going on tour! Save your coins! I no wan hear pim.”

Despite these moments of goodwill, their history has been marked by tensions. In 2020, Wizkid appeared to snub Davido by ignoring his post about the Made In Lagos album while acknowledging posts from other artists, which stirred reactions from fans. In 2021, after winning a Grammy alongside Burna Boy, Wizkid hinted at a collaboration titled ‘Ballon d’Or,’ which many fans interpreted as Wizkid aligning himself with Burna Boy in his feud with Davido.

In a 2020 interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Davido revealed that his attempts to collaborate with Wizkid on an album and tour were unsuccessful, emphasizing that the issues did not stem from his camp. However, in October 2019, Davido acknowledged Wizkid’s congratulatory message following the birth of his son and returned the gesture by praising Wizkid for his sold-out concert at the O2 Arena. Davido wrote on X, “Congrats my brother @wizkidayo on your show… I Dey wait my Son since… as God bless you today him come bless me too!!! More to come Blood!!!!! I see your Message My guy!!”

In 2018, both artists showed solidarity by performing at each other’s shows. Wizkid made an appearance at Davido’s 30 BG concert, and Davido reciprocated by performing at Wizkid’s Eko Hotel concert on December 24. In an interview with Native Magazine the same year, Davido explained that their feud ended after conflicts between their respective camps escalated physically.

However, their history of jabs goes further back. In July 2017, Wizkid seemingly insulted Davido by referring to his “frog voice” in a cryptic post: “My people make una remember to say Yankee passport no be baba blue, e no dey cure frog voice,” a remark fans believed targeted Davido, who holds an American passport. That same year, Davido allegedly took a dig at Wizkid on Snapchat, claiming the “Pon Pon” sound was popular, while other sounds were “Less,” which many saw as a critique of Wizkid’s third album, Sound From The Other Side.

In July 2014, Wizkid took to X (formerly Twitter) following his New York concert and ahead of his London and Manchester shows, posting, “I already killed NY!! London 26th Sept!! Manchester 28th Sept!!! Big surprise!! Still proper shows!! proper venues!!! #fuckboysuckadick!!” The post was widely interpreted as a diss directed at Davido, who had also recently held a concert.

However, in a 2016 interview with Olisa Dibua, Wizkid clarified that his post was not aimed at Davido but was instead related to frustrations with a bad sound system he had experienced during a previous concert. Despite this explanation, Davido disagreed, maintaining in a separate interview with Olisa Dibua that Wizkid’s tweet was indeed about him.
