NSA Nuhu Ribadu Demands Apology, N10Billion From Blogger Kemi Olunloyo Over ‘Defamatory Claims On EFCC Property Sales To Falana’

Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, has demanded a public apology and ₦10 billion in damages from blogger Kemi Olunloyo. This action follows a video Olunloyo posted on YouTube, where she alleged that during Ribadu’s tenure as EFCC chairman, properties seized from cybercriminals (popularly called “Yahoo boys”) were sold to prominent figures, including human rights lawyer Femi Falana. Ribadu, through his lawyer, stated that these claims were false, emphasizing that no such sales occurred during his time as EFCC chairman. The EFCC was only established in 2003, not in the 1990s as the video implied, and all seized properties were forfeited to the Federal Government under court orders.

Ribadu’s legal team has given Olunloyo seven days to issue a retraction and a public apology across various platforms, including newspapers, YouTube, and radio. If these demands are not met, Ribadu plans to pursue further legal action for reputational damage caused by the video, which has garnered significant views online.
