The Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has announced a commitment to restore electricity to Northern Nigeria within the next three days, addressing widespread power outages and ongoing grid failures that have disrupted the region.
Adelabu made this announcement on Tuesday, responding to inquiries from senators concerned about the power crisis affecting the northern region. He outlined plans to temporarily route electricity through the Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line, which would serve as an interim solution to ensure power reaches affected areas as soon as possible.
Addressing the challenges posed by vandalism on power infrastructure, Adelabu said his team is actively collaborating with security agencies to secure access to the grid, which has been occupied by vandals.
Furthermore, Adelabu assured that repairs will be expedited, with a full restoration of power expected across the North within the next 14 days. This statement comes as a reassurance to residents and businesses impacted by the prolonged outages and grid instability, signaling a government effort to address and prevent future disruptions.
The Minister’s commitment is seen as a vital step in stabilizing Nigeria’s power sector and reducing the frequency of grid failures that have long hampered economic activities and daily life across the country.
