Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai is facing a N2.3 billion lawsuit brought against him by the Adara Elders of Southern Kaduna. The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, accuses El-Rufai of violating the fundamental human rights of the elders, including unlawful imprisonment and harassment during his administration in 2019. The plaintiffs, led by Aweni Dio Maisamari, the former Chairman of the Adara Development Association (ADA), are seeking damages for their arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, which they claim lasted over three months without any charges or evidence being brought against them. The suit also highlights the killing of their Chief, Rafael Maiwada Galadima, during the same period.
The case has been adjourned to allow for proper service to the respondents as per court rules.
