Owaru was recognized for the honesty he displayed at the event and set a good example to other young Nigerians by returning the N15 million he found in the bike to its owner.

The young man who contested in the 2023 elections alongside former Labor Party candidate Mr. Peter Obi and his friend, Senator Datti Baba Ahmed, instantly became a national symbol with a simple yet rare integrity.

Owalu attended a meeting with these great leaders and shook hands with the leaders, governors and other dignitaries at the event held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja on Tuesday.

In recognition of this rare gesture, the former Anambra State Governor also received the Ovalu Bates University Scholarship, while Niger State Governor, Umar Bago, announced that he received $5000 each from the government, Progressive Governors Conference Wan Naira scholarship and All Progressives Congress Apc Minister.

Expressing his happiness and appreciation for the award, Auwalu said the LEADERSHIP YOUTH EXCELLENCE was one of the many recognitions he has received since returning the sum of N15 million to Chadian business owners.

“I am humbled and grateful that the Principal received this honour. I am very happy because I did not think that a simple act of returning the money back to its owners would make me famous and honored.

“After returning the money , I received a message from the Owner, the Member of Parliament of Kano State and the Emir of Kano.

The various gifts and the gift for Me proved to the leaders that justice is good,” Owaru said. Leaders of the annual conference and awards honoring Auwalu for leadership noted that justice is irrelevant to many youth in the country, adding that Auwalu reiterated giving hope to the youth of tomorrow with the justice he brought forth.
