In a devastating incident on Tuesday, a tragic auto crash claimed the lives of at least 16 people on the Njaba Bridge along the Owerri-Orlu Expressway in Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State.
This narrow bridge has long been a notorious spot, with a history of fatal accidents occurring over the years.
Eyewitnesses reported that a commercial vehicle lost control, crashing into the bridge’s railings before plunging into the river below.
Overcrowded seating and sudden panic among the passengers made it difficult for them to escape, and sadly, all were found dead when local residents arrived at the scene to provide help.
Although the Imo State Police Command has not yet officially confirmed the accident, worried families gathered at the site, desperate to locate missing loved ones.
