In a coordinated mission to aid in the restoration of power to Kaduna and other northwestern states, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted a series of targeted airstrikes on November 1, 2024. These strikes targeted terrorist strongholds deep within Alawa Forest, located in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. This mission is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard power infrastructure and ensure continuous progress in re-establishing electricity in affected regions.
The airstrikes were initiated after Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions confirmed the presence of terrorist groups gathering with intentions to disrupt the power restoration efforts. Acting on this intelligence, the air component swiftly executed a precise airstrike to neutralize the threat. NAF crews observed and effectively engaged the terrorists, eliminating multiple fighters and destroying their logistical resources.
In addition to these targeted strikes, the NAF has increased armed reconnaissance along critical power lines stretching from Shiroro Lake to Damba, maintaining control of the airspace to prevent any potential interference with the restoration process. This mission highlights the NAF’s dedication to collaborating with other security agencies to protect essential infrastructure and ensure the rapid and complete restoration of vital services for Kaduna and neighboring areas.
