NAFDAC Shuts Down Abuja Warehouse, Supermarket Over Expired Food

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) recently shut down a warehouse in Zone 4, Wuse, Abuja, after discovering a large stock of expired and unregistered food items.

NAFDAC officials revealed that the facility was allegedly involved in revalidating expired products to resell them on the market, posing health risks to the public. The operation also extended to a supermarket in Wuse 2, Abuja, where items from the warehouse were reportedly being sold to unsuspecting customers.

Both the warehouse and supermarket were promptly closed to facilitate further investigations. Confiscated products included popular items such as Cornitos Crusties Nacho, Chaunky Mango, Mother’s Recipe, Nacho Crisp, Paneer Makhani, Palak Paneer, and Dal Tadka. The total value of the seized goods is estimated at approximately N87.5 million.
