A series of deadly attacks by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night left eight people dead and two others injured in Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State. The attacks began in the Daffo community around 7 PM, where five assailants opened fire, killing six people and injuring two, according to local youth leader Kefas Mallai. The attackers reportedly arrived without raising suspicion and began shooting indiscriminately.
A few hours later, in a separate attack in Zarat, another community in Bokkos, two more people were killed around 9 PM by gunmen who fled immediately after the assault. Mallai noted that the attackers seemed ordinary before suddenly opening fire. The motives remain unclear, but some locals suspect herders might be involved, as the victims were farmers.
The Plateau State Police are aware of the incidents but have not yet released an official statement.
