A total of 63 criminal gangs arrested in Ireland over cult related issue

A total of 63 people were arrested in a joint police and Interpol operation targeting West African terrorism in the last three months.

An Garda Síochána is a police force of 21 from six countries participating in Operation Jackal, which targets cybercrime such as Nigerian criminal gang Black Axe.

Police have conducted 37 investigations and arrested 63 people within the scope of the operation since April this year.

Seventeen people were charged, including six teenagers. In addition, police said, 11 mobile phones and two cars worth approximately €40,000 each were seized.

Police suspect the vehicles were purchased with stolen or laundered money.

Assets worth approximately 50,000 Euros suspected to have been purchased with stolen or laundered money were seized.

Gardaí also seized €81,000 and more than $260,000 in cryptocurrency and froze 17 bank accounts suspected of being opened in false names.

The investigation was carried out by Gardaí from the Crime Branch and the National Crime Agency.
