The Saudi Football Federation is investigating Cristiano Ronaldo for making a crude response to taunts from Lionel Messi. The Al-Nassr superstar could face a ban due to his obscene gesture.

Cristiano Ronaldo is under investigation for allegedly responding obscenely to additional ‘Messi’ taunts during his performance with Al-Nassr.

In a 3-2 triumph over Al-Shabab in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday, the Portuguese superstar, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, found the net again. During the match, he reacted to spectators chanting the name of perennial rival Lionel Messi in his direction.

After scoring his 34th goal of the season from the penalty spot against Al-Shabab, a video surfaced showing Ronaldo gesturing towards the crowd. Given the presence of numerous young supporters, authorities in the Middle East are being urged to intervene.

CR7 could potentially be banned if found guilty, impacting his participation in crucial matches as Al-Nassr seeks to narrow the gap with Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Conversely, if cleared of charges, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is set to return to play against Al-Hazm on Thursday.
