Abacha former Chief of staff,Gen Oladipo Diya is dead

Lt Gen Oladipo Diya who served under tue Abacha regime as Chief of defence staff is dead, he passed away on Sunday 26th March 2023.

The late Gen’s son made the announcement at the early hours of Sunday which confirms the death of the former Chief of defence staff.

The Late Diya was accused of allegedly plotting a coup with some other highly ranked generals to overtake the Abacha government.

The Court Marshal found Diya and others guilty to the crime which they were accused of and were sentenced to death by hanging.

Diya’s execution and others could not he carried out because of the passing away of Abacha and later released on international community intervention.
